Great shot, would look good framed and hung.

Thanks Greg, what size would you like?;)

It doesn't have the energy of your shot from a few days ago of the Mo Fo Anvil Head storm cloud. That needs to be bolted to the wall and chained for safety!

How sad am I?

And why is Telstra sending me through Krasnoyarsk?

You can select which server to do your test on. Did you select the right one?

I've got an 8Mbit connection at home. Mine can only manage 350kb throughput. I have a feeling however it is due to the ancient cabling in my house. Could be my ancient modem too. LOL

The other thing about being in the city Claz is you are competing with heaps more people for the available bandwidth.

I think it's more the cabling in the house too. It's a 1920s house... and if I am correct, I should only be about 800m from the exchange.
I sync at ~10Mbit, I used to be able to sync at 16Mbit... don't know what's changed, nothing  might start playing with different routers/modems and see if it helps much.

Maybe walk down and give the exchange a kick

Could well be the cabling in the house. Are you renting? If not it might be worth getting a sparky out to have a look.

Ohh, I see why it wasn't showing faster speeds. If I select Adelaide as the city(where Internode is based) I get this:

I fail to see why people wanna look at webpages in a 2inch screen.. I tried once, and wanted to inflict self harm instantly.

I'm with you there. I love my Moto Q for email, hate it for web.

Ahh fair enough. I'm on the $60 cap on Optus. It includes $350 of calls/text and 500MB of data. Working great so far. :)

I've already asked my manager. She doesn't know what it is though. We have a contract tech who set it up. :(

On another note, I just upgraded to the 20Mbit ADSL 2 on Internode. Currently syncing at over 20Mbit/s and getting download speeds of 2.1MB/s. :)

I think distance to the local exchange plays a much bigger part than modem.
I have a linksys and only manage a 3mbit connection

Guys, the thing to bear in mind is that if you're behind a RIM, you are subject to being artificially throttled back to 3mbit by Telstra at any time. They will do it if your particular RIM becomes too busy with new ADSL connections. It's a Telstra thing (they own the RIMs) and can happen regardless of what plan you're on or which ISP you're with. It just happened to me - I'm on 8mbit ADSL1, and was getting 650MB/s download rates until a couple of weeks ago. Now it's maxing out at 310.

Is there a way to know if you're behind a RIM or not? What does one actually look like? Assuming it's a physical piece of infrastructure?
