The AF system in it is lightyears ahead of the other Canon models. Lightning-fast and accurate 45-point AF.

Is it true they have a dedicated board/processor for AF?

Dunno, but there's no way I'd have trusted a 5D or 40D to hold focus with such shallow DOF ...

I was having a second look at some of the photos I took out at La Perouse the other day, concentrating on the ones I took using the EF 75 - 300mm lens that came with my 400D. It seems that whenever I fully zoom out with this lens, the images never seem to come out very sharp even though I have boosted the sharpness up in the camera settings and the colours are very dull and need a fair amount of post processing. When I use the lens with no zoom at all, the images seem to be much better and require less processing afterwards.

I am wondering if this could be a problem with the lens quality, the camera sensor/mirror or just me not fully understanding how to use the lens correctly.

Sigh...I don't want to shop but it's been awhile...and I don't have either a 1D series or a 5D series yet LOL

I've been flat out trying to get ready for my big adventure...can't believe I leave on Sunday! I have so much to do.

Had to take a break to go to the beach with Elvis

And Dora has been practicing her Oscar-worthy performances

I got out for a couple of dives last weekend, but doubt I'll get out again before I leave

There are more photos up at Flickr (KristinAnderson) and on my blog (external link) so now you're all caught up :)

I have meetings with two potential brides this morning and then I MUST sit down and finish up a wedding album proof...busy busy!

The longer you're zooming the more camera shake will effect your image. IS can come in really handy for that. (This is from my experience anyway).

Nice! And this AF advantage was from the 1D classic to the current lineup?

I've only used MkII's (1D and 1Ds) so can't comment on anything earlier, but I don't think much has changed in the AF system. The MkIII's are even better, with more cross-type sensors.

What do you think of your 1D series cameras in low light and high ISO?

I'm not really in the market for new bodies, but I'm interested to know what options are out there :)

1DsMkII is on par with 5D classic in low light, perhaps slightly better.

1DMkII is slightly inferior, but still very clean.

Any recommendations on who to get to print/make a wedding album, and approximate costs?

I'm using the Albums Australia and just received a 13x13 incher ... it was freakin stunning!

Check out some photos etc here (external link)...

After seeing this one, I'm a bit off the magazine print style albums...they're nice, but the matted ones - oooo!
