+1, still use it for games time to time(every week or so) and can't stand the UI... :)

Although the x301 really makes me wish that apple made computers like that :|
That new 17 MBP looks crazy 8GB of ram 8 Hrs battery, 256GB SSD, only dual core but...
And best of all the Anti-glare version means no glass, not crappy coating! Bit big though

Wow, I'd seen the ads for the new MBP, but I hadn't looked over the specs. It's pretty impressive, isn't it.... :)

Mac FTW! I was going to download the Windows 7 beta, but I couldn't be bothered. I knew I'd never go back...

Windows7 isn't bad. It's not stable enough to be used as a mainstream operation system yet (actually just Internet Explorer 8 that's at fault, really) but the taskbar is starting to look quite mac-ish. All in all, Windows7 is a BIG step forward.

The overall consensus for Windows 7 seem to be pretty positive from what I have heard. I've got both the x86 and x64 versions but I haven't tried it yet hehe. Hopefully soon.

Goodness, I think I need to send my MBP in for repair. The superdrive won't burn onto DVD DL +/-R -__-..

Isn't USB speeds reliant on the PC specs? Or atleast affected by it?

bannedPermanent ban

I'm typing this on a new (unibody) 15" MBP, and at home I use a Quad-core XP machine. I don't really care which one I'm using, both have advantages and disadvantages.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

I havent come across any major quirks yet apart from a few UI features not working and bluetooth, wireless, audio drivers not working by default.
I'm finding it a little tricky to get used to the hidden opened windows on the taskbar.
And i'm not sure if i like the Windows Live Messenger.. so bloated on a 12" screen.

I don't think PC specs would affect it too greatly. Most CPUs should be able to handle the throughtput so long as your not heavily multi-tasking

PC Specs have an affect on it but in this age, I wouldn't say it is as much as before. The biggest bottleneck in transfer speeds would be the USB hub itself, the USB device and/or the hard drive disk. Out of all the components in the PC, the hard drive is the slowest component.

The main problem with USB vs FW is that USB's bandwidth is shared over all devices on the usb hub. If you have a lot of devices, it slows down. FW's bandwidth is per port and sustained (hence the use for DV cameras etc).

Try it on a 10" netbook at 1024x600

It has some nice features, but seriously, 66MB for an instant messaging program?! sheesh.

Haha, well my 12" is 1024x768 so i fill your pain if that is any consolation. :)
Might have to look for some other IM client interface.

On another note, official portrait of Obama was posted. First to use a digital camera. EXIF intact as well :)
