Can do Wazza, but couldn't be bothered working with wet wood! We will see, i think only 1% of the candle entries are unlit so they might be compelled to have a "minority represetative" in the finals lol.

About a year ago I had all my gear stolen in a burglary. (I say all, they took lenses but left the 1ds II body - weird)

I was with allianz. They sent an assessor round and I proved ownership of the lenses etc. My policy was new for old, so I was ok. I had all my gear replaced. But they wouldn't give me a receipt for the items they had bought as replacements. Without a receipt, I argued, I had no way of proving ownership if I needed to make a claim going forward....

In the end they relented and gave me the cost of the items. (Boy to insurance companies get a decent discount)

So the lesson here is be aware of the ins and outs of your policies. My lenses were listed as SPECIFIC items - i was told if they weren't, i would have been given cash as the amount of one item ("camera gear" for instance) would have been paid out - and that was a maximum of say 2k (or whatever your policy stipulates), whereas listed seperately they were EACH covered.

Don't be afraid to bug the company, and make sure that you know what EXACTLY you will get in the case of a claim.

Oh and one other thing... when listing value, make sure you put the most expensive price you can find - ideally Canons RRP, as that will ensure you will be ok. Yes, it will bump up your premium, but by a negligible amount. I listed a watch at what i paid for it, and then found the replacement value was at least twice what I ended up being paid for it

Depends on what you're replacing...Insurers get screwed in most to all industries...As soon as a retailer hears "Insurace" they go for full margins.

As for the replacement...Again, it depends on your company, most companies will ask for an estimate if not covered individually, and usually it's between 5-10k as a cap. You're definitely with the wrong insurer if it's under that...

All this mind you is based on experience from my g/fs place being robbed, and through my family jewellery business...So, we never really delt with "specialty" insurers...

Thanks! It was ok, I wasn't as happy as I would've like to have been...I used a pin to get the shape of the ribbon, and I just kept getting frustrated as it never sat in the right spot... It's nothing like shooting insects. lol

I know but it is iritating going into an exam that you have spent 2 year working towards to find questions that are so crap they dont have answers!
