Can i pick your brains please?

On Wednesday, I'm taking possession of a 1954 Leica from my wife's rellies.
From research i've done it looks like it may be an M3.

can i use the lenses on my 40D via an adapter?

what's a good film for a film virgin to buy?

what other questions should i have asked?

cheers

Andrew

If you poke around the lens forum, there are plenty.

Use POTN search box........

Post pics from the lens when you get it working!

Did you get a different focusing screen as well?

That's a sweet shot, great you got those wonderful lenses to fit. 50 years and still taking pics, that's really cool :)

At that time, were all lenses hand-made?

I believe so but don't quote me.

I love the weight of the smaller focal lengths, the 135mm up are a bit heavy.
but the results in the photos are amazing, sharp yet dreamy ( i know that doesn't make sense) the colours are amazing and the bokeh is to die for. i haven't used a canon lens since the adaptor turned up.
initially I was thinking of selling the lot, but there is no chance of that now.
although you guys who are interested should look on Ebay there are some bargains to be had.

one thing i find odd, is the stop down method of shooting.

This is probably completely the wrong way to do it but hey :)

i have these lenses wide open, which is my preferred method anyway. so i'm shooting 2.8 . 1/80. iso 200 most of the time.

but i seem to be able to go a lot higher on iso before noise becomes an issue than i can with my canon lenses, i need to post examples i suppose to get it straight in my brain lol.
