Does anyone have anything to say about Tenergy brand NiMH AAs, good or bad? I Googled for reviews but didn't really find anything. I put this post here due to the fact that for most of us, our flash units are the only things that use AAs, and I'd be using them in mine.

Given my experience with cheap cells (CTA digital) I would be inclined to buy only good brands, like Powerex, Duracell, etc. The CTA digital cells I got from B&H only hold half their rated capacity, and they just don't work well. Absolute crap.

I purchased some AAA & AA on sale and I would never buy any again. They never would fully charge and then they quickly discharged.

They make excellent C cell batteries (I know from my R/C hobby). I bought a few sets of AAs from them. Had some in my 580 for about a month, and to my surprise, the flash has fired each time I've used it. I would have expected a discharge by now. I'll post again when I use them for an extended flash session. I don't really know how many flashes I will get on a set yet.

If I were to make a recommendation, never use their charger. It does not peak, and doesn't let you know it's done (more or less the same thing, but not quite).

I already have one of the better MaHa 8-cell chargers so I'm good there. I have 11 hot shoe flashes and a CP-E3 to power for full day shoots, so I'm just looking for the best performance to price ratio. I don't care if they deplete themselves completely within 2 days as long as they last me through the shoot itself.

I'm considering those but I can go to Wal-Mart and get more Duracells for the same price, and not have to pay for or wait on shipping.

Unless there are some awesome deals on them that I'm unaware exist.

Given you have 11 hot shoe flashes you probably have enough to keep you going for the two days shipping would take if you're in the US... but Duracell are probably fine too.

I've replaced all alkaline batteries with Sanyo Eneloops. The recycle time on my flashes seem much faster.

I tried to bounce my flash off the ceiling once. Left a mark on the ceiling and broke my flash.

I'm looking to fill them all and have at least one set of spares for each flash so I can run them simultaneously. That means I need at least 108 batteries in total. I'm 12 batteries short of filling everything just once as of now.

I have a lot of buying to do.

Like I suggested just go with a decent brand.

Anyone else have experience with Tenergy AA NiMH batteries?

dmayes, if you keep this thread updated on your experience with them, it'd be much appreciated.

They are quite inconsistent, and overrated. They say 2600mah ont hem but they are really only about 2200man. Some of them are only 1800man or so.

Well, I gave them a fair shot this morning. Of the 100 or so pics I took, only about 8 ended up with the flash. The recycle is pretty mediocre. Between 6-10 seconds. I'll probably just use them in my point and shoot, and remotes.

The best batteries I've used were Rayovac IC-3 AAs. The recycle was very quick. They charge insanely fast. But it comes at a cost. I've probably got a dozen batteries that only hold their charge for 48 hours when not in use, and they become paperweights much faster than usual rechargeable batteries. But for a 15 minute turnaround on a charge, I think it's worth the short life span.
