Whitetail buck...

Obviously not the best photo one could take of a whitetail, but it's definitely interesting and something you don't see everyday. We came across him at a little after 6 am while heading upriver. This guy swam close to 500 yards across the Arkansas River with a very swift current.

Good capture. I hunted for several years and have seen literally thousands of deer, and I have only seen a buck swimming once. Now maybe you can catch a shot of bucks fighting :). I have only seen that once, and it was through a space telescope. No camera back then....

I've seen 5 other deer swimming across different bodies of water before, but never one this big. 3 of the 5 were in this same area.

I am always surprised at how fast something with hooves can swim. We did stay a good distance away and made sure that this guy made it to the bank safely.
