I am waiting on the list of RGB tech for my 50D. They have a lond waiting list and get only 5 cameras for every two weeks from Canon.
I was almost touching the button at DigitalREv to buy my 50D.
I know it is safe to buy lenses from them as Canon honor the international warranty for lenses in UK.
But is it safe to buy the body from Digital-REV?
Any quality issues with mon-UK models?

I can't answer your question but suggest you give www.bentonvillemall.co.uk (external link) a try. I got mine from there for £859.99 + £9.99 delivery. They're based in Staffordshire.

I know Canon Australia does not honour the warranty for bodies purchased outside of AU. I imagine a similar thing may be the case with other Canon nationals but call them to confirm.

They don't (Canon UK) honor international warranty. But Digitalrev has ttheir own seller warranty. They are very reputable.

www.bentonvillemall.co.uk (external link) is not having a wonderful reputation.

Hi

I can't offer anything on the quality from other country's, but i can on the service, I ordered a 40D a few weeks ago from DigitalRev and had nothing but problems. I had payment problem with a Visa/Debit card, then they wanted me to fax them security details with photos and i even had to prove my relationship to my wife, Because the REV account was in my name and the card used was my wife's.

This may all sound like standard security but believe me it takes a long time to get through all this then.
When i finally canceled my order. it was 7 DAYS before REV put any funds back into my account...

I have since Ordered a 50D from a uk company and awaiting arrival.

I hope your transaction goes smoother than mine was.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of that. Someone else who'd bought from them previously recommended them to me. I ordered my 50D from them and it was delivered after 5 working days (7 days inc the weekend).

digital-rev is an established and safe seller but Canon UK will not honour the warranty on grey import bodies.

What are grey products in real terms? It always gives me a meaning that "grey" products are not genuine canon products!

"grey" imports are genuine products, just imported from other countries!

i asked jessops (mail order) to price match bentonvillemall.co.uk - and whilst they said they couldnt match £860 (£870 with postage) they WOULD do £899!!! hence i ordered it :D

I guess I might be that someone!?? I ordered my 24L from them at a bargain price. The delivery was a little slow (about 9 days from payment) but the lens arrived in good condition.

After ordering I did then find some negative comments about them, but my lens arrived ok so I'm happy.

Having said that if Jessops is coming close on price they are probably a safer choice.

So do you have to just mail them and ask for the price match?
