I've given in to temptation and placed my order for a 50D and Sandisk Extreme III 8GB bundle for £832 including VAT and delivery from www.digitalrev.com (external link). That price includes the 5% discount for paying with PayPal.

The card on its own would cost £37 from www.play.com (external link) so I'm effectively getting the camera body for £795 with all duties paid.

EDIT : Order payment completed at 08:53 on Tuesday. Delivery completed at 14:10 on Thursday (from Hong Kong!). They even threw in the Digital Rev gift pack, which is included with their eBay sales, but which I did not expect to receive. The Sandisk card is one of the new 30MB/s cards :)

I got the £74 refund from simply electronics today, so the 50D cost me £688 delivered. Very happy with the camera, and no problems with simply electronics other than the painfully slow delivery.

Congrats on the new camera. You are going to love it. Big upgrade from the rebels.
