Just spend 2 weeks at a lovely coastal setting, took heaps of photos and found out that my 1D 111 and 500 did not want to work together. The only sharp images I could get was at absolute minimum focus range, the moment I had to shoot at any distance it was no good at all. I had 2 weeks to try and work out what the problem is, trying hard to make sure it was not me that was the problem. Tripod, remote shutter release even at high shutter speeds did not help. Deeper DOF, all kinds of settings on the camera, good light, low light nothing helped. Had to do most of my shooting with the 70-200 and 24-70. Sad thing was it was the perfect setting for the 500 and a lot of great photos was lost. I have not touched the "lens calibration" as frankly I did not know how to go about it. Any help on how to check the calibration will be appreciated as it is about all I can still do to "fix" the problem. I tried to see on my photos if the lens is front or back focusing but found that very difficult to work out. Any advice will be appreciated.
