Here are a couple from last weekend - Estes Park, CO is a great place for elk photos... From as close as 15 feet on some! Glad the bucks were calm while I was there. C&C welcome - thanks in advance for helping a newbie - I need all the advice I can get :D

Big boys...nice shots...we have them here at the canyon...I see them every day, but I am still amazed at how large they are!

Did you find them right in town square? That is where they were last time we were up to Estes Park.

KT - Nice shots. The bulls (not bucks) are resting now after the rut. They are back to being buddies again. But the rut is hard on them. Those boys in the second pic are thin and tired and may not make it through the winter..even though they are protected in the Rocky Mountain National Park and can't be hunted. Elk put a lot of effort in the procreation of their species and it takes a toll. But there is probably no better place to observe them than Estes Park..ask anybody who has played a round of golf there. Good work.

Mom - they were up Wonderview a bit - just outside of town.
Master - Yeah - I could have walked right up to these two, but there were some kids nearby - didn't want to set a bad example (of course, my wife was watching too!)
Old - Thanks! My Southern roots showed with the bucks comment :o These guys were quite a bit away from any females. I thought maybe they hadn't earned a harem ;)

Thanks for the comments! And yes - Estes Park and RMNP are gret photo spots!
