Hello everyone. I just got my Canon 100mm macro lens in. I love it but I am not happy with the quality of the photos... I was told I need

A full set of Kenko Extension Tubes

&

A flash for the macro lens

Which should I invest in and purchase first to help give me more defined pictures :)

Thank you!

Why aren't you happy with it? Can you post some examples you aren't happy with?

Flash. Learn it. Use it. Then move on to closer shots with Ext tubes... you would need a flash anyways to give some fill light....

I'll second flash first. It will help get that shutter speed up higher so you can use those more stopped down apertures and get that DOF increased.

Agree. You suggest medications to take AFTER you learn what ails someone, don't you?! OP is not happy with results, but we have no idea why the results are thus far 'poor'.

we all need a flash but im wondering why you want extension tubes. do you want closer working distance from your subjects?

WOW those pix is nice..!!!!

I think you dont need to invest into flash.

May be you invest into extension tube for more close up shot...

Agree with all the above. Those are some really nice shots. What don't you like about them?
