Replacement bag strap?

I use a Lowepro Nova5 bag for carrying my kit when in "tourist mode". Even when I'm traveling light, the shoulder strap is never comfortable, the large pad meant to help just digs in whichever way I arrange it.

Does anyone know of a strap that I could replace it with? One obtainable here in the UK would be preferable.

Thanks for the suggestions but the "deluxe" strap seems to have the "shaped to the shoulder" pad that my existing strap has and its that that's causing the problem.

Whether my shoulder is a different shape to the average I don't know, but a completely flat (and wide) profile would work better. The existing strap is either trying to cut me in half or it's sliding off the shoulder as soon as I hitch it up, all because it's shaped that odd way.

Sorry, I did a google search and I couldn't find anything I'd be willing to use myself.

I don't like shoulder strap bags for the exact problem you are having.

The Nova 5 is a pretty large shoulder bag. Maybe consider using the belt loops on the back of the bag to secure it to your waist to lift some of the weight off your shoulder?

Why not replace with the Optech Bag Strap.
I own one and really reduce the weight while carry on your shoulder.

Have you tried using the strap on the opposite shoulder from where the bag hangs? By that, I mean that if the bag is on your left, put the strap over your head and support it on your right shoulder. Lengthening the strap is usually necessary for this carry mode.

SkipD,

Yes, Thats how I use it most of the time, but its inconvenient to put it mildly, its no light weight and having to put everything else down before being able to rest my aching shoulder is quite literally a pain!

However rubber_duckie might have provided the solution. The Optech strap would appear to be straight. Now can I get it here in the UK?

The waist straps would certainly ease the poor old shoulders, but this bag is used for my less serious outings. My serious "carry everything but the kitchen sink" bag is a very comfortable Vertex 200AW backpack and I'd rather not get overencumbered with the Nova 5.

I see there are a number of UK outlets selling OpTech kit, so thats straight forward.

Anyone know whether the end attachments are metal or plastic? With the weight I would need them to be metal.

The only pad/strap I've really liked is the one on my Domke. I have the (optional) postman's pad and with that on there, it stays put and is very comfortable. Even with a ton of weight, that thing is perfect. I've got the Nova 5 as well and have had the same issues as you. In fact, that's why I just bought a Crumpler 6mdh to replace it. Well, one of the reasons. The other is I have an overwhelming need to own one of every bag out there.

I'm not sure if there's a plain strap sold that you could attach the Domke postman pad to, but if there is, that pad makes all the difference.

Mine are Metal hooks, I don't know why their website shown as plastic hooks.
and the one you shown on your link is confirm metal hooks.
And I did compare both straps and felt the one I owned is better on helping reducing the weight.
