I'm totally not caught up this is a run through really quick. Had to rush up to my mom & dad's house. Dad was out working in a cell phone dead zone so mom called me when she fell and hurt herself. We're back from the urgent care with 7 stitches above her eye, a broken toe and some other scrapes and bangs.... Could've been much worse! :( So I'm off again....

I hope she gets better soon!

BALLOT

For President of POTN Lounge
  • ____ Permagrin, president; cfpackerfan, vice-president
  • ____ Glarnax the Destroyer, president; Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Film, vice-president
  • __X_ Jerp, Zombie of Upper Michigan, president; Andy Warhol's Left Kidney, vice-president

For Strange Guy at the End of the Bar
  • _____ puddlepirate44, incumbent
  • __X___ Morkot Uhngrat of Mongolia, guy with a weird name (if he brings the mongolian BBQ)

For Secretary of Bold and Pink Things
  • __X__ Thomas "Lonnifred" Canty, incumbent
  • ____ Jamie Holladay, upstart

Kommisar of Meany Headedness
  • ____ T. "The Hammer" D.
  • (candidate is running unopposed)
  • If I don't have any choice, I don't vote

Director of the Offices of Grumpy and Obnoxious
  • ____ JWright, incumbent
  • __X__ That guy that was behind me when I was at the stop light on Circle and 9th.

Rebel
  • ____ Zane, incumbent
  • __XXXXX__ Alyssa (riiiiiiight...)

Henchman
  • __X__ Miss "Dragon Lady" Pix
  • ____ Some other candidate that doesn't really value their life.

MEASURES

Measure 42

This measure will create a new governmental department called "Smilie Immigration Reform". Under this department, all smilies, regardless of their original homeland, will be indoctrinated and documented for permanent citizenship within the Lounge. The Director of SIR will be nominated by the President and will be appointed by a majority vote of eligible voters of the Lounge.
  • __X!!!X_ Yes, create this Department
  • ___ No, don't create this Department because I'm a low down Smilie bigot.

Measure 1,248

Under this measure, Jamie will cease talking about his grooming habits.
  • __X_ Yes, please, Dear God, please yes.
  • ___ No, because it upsets Jenn so.

Measure ß

This will create a governmental oversight committee that will regulate Zane's fiery matchstick head. It will measure the BTU output and set parameters on how much candle-watt power he can emit on any given hour.
  • ____ Yes, because this kind of Big Brother Activity warms my anally retentive heart.
  • __X__ No. Geez, who thinks this stuff up?

Measure Q

This measure will change the name of the nation "Uzbekistan" to be "Larry" because Larry is so much easier to say and spell.
  • ____ Yes, and, while you're at it, do something about Massachesetts or Connecticut.
  • __X__ No. Just no. I'm plainly disagreeable. And besides, if you change the name, how will you do when you'll want to talk about the -stan nations?? (Uzbeki-, Tadjiki-, Afghani-, Paki-, Turkmeni-, Khirgyzhi-,...)

Measure Grady Blinkblatz

This measure will allow legal citizens of the Lounge to openly confess that they think that the Eagles of the '70's sound more and more like Country Western music as time goes on.
  • ____ Yes. Desperado? C'mon.
  • ____ No. Rock legends, and I'm in denial.
  • __X__ Eagles? Where? wouldn't this be dangerous for the mouse who wants to be prez?

Measure *

This measure will grant the president of the Lounge the ability, without oversight, to bring her husband and all other Lounge members a beer whenever the urge hits.
  • ____ Yes, dang, that man needs a beer.
  • __X__ No, it should be expanded to included Starbucks and the occasional Tequila Sunrise.

Measure f/2.8

The voting in of this measure will end the ongoing debate over the annunciation of the word "bokeh" to be BOE-kah.
  • ____ Yes, let's just end this.
  • __X__ No, because I'm argumentative and fundamentally wrong.

I am firmly on the Permie / Cat ticket and am real busy in photoshop making a green card so I can vote next Tuesday......

We have been following the election with great interest over here ( as we should in the 51st State) and other than the selection of Sarah Palin it has really lacked humour. We British can't understand anything unless we can laugh at it.

The US has a bit of a reputation for not doing irony well, I think that is unfounded because when they do do irony they do it extremely well and at last I have found something that makes me laugh at this election (and to be honest also makes me cry as it applies to politics universally)

Yep, I'll be there soon. It's only a couple days now. And I haven't even started packing yet.

Heck, for a road/flight type trip I don't start packing until a couple hours before. When headed to the back country, it is at least a day ahead in case an food/gear needs to be purchased. They don't seem to have to many places to buy emergency stuff out there. Lisa always starts packing well in advance for the road/flight type trips and ends up changing/adding/forgetting stuff at the last minute anyway.

I a SO with you Steve. I got up this morning and went, "oh, 4:00, at least I got a good 5 hours of sleep", only to get on the computer and realize it was only 3:00. I just wish they would quit messing with me. At least I will be able to see outside in the mornings now.

Hi Lonnie, how's things? You're headed up to see Cat pretty soon, eh? :DTime flies, can't believe 2008 is quickly coming to a close.

I get like that too, I start reading and that usually puts me out, sometimes with keyboard rash, lol.

Hi Jamie, any snow yet?

I wish!!!

Jamie Holladay wrote in post #6606644 (external link)
NOPE. But I have my gloves and coat ready for it. but I will have to go to the grocery and buy milk and bread.

OMG They do that in Alabama too!?!?!?!

Oh yeah can't be without that either

Jamie Holladay wrote in post #6606675 (external link)
I guess that is a Southern or Alabama thing. If the weather man says it is going to snow, everyone rushes to the grocery to get milk and bread. I think it is stupid but people do it.

Yeah that too.

Yeah that^^^^ But it is NOT limited to Southern Alabama! They do it in Western NC and Upstate SC at the first mention of the word snow!!!!!!!!!!

G'MAE bright and early... no kids at home this morning to wake me up early.... no reason to get up for another hour/hour and a half... and I am AWAKE... WIDE AWAKE!!!!!!!!! GAAAAAAAAAA!

ummmm

yeah!!! ^^^^

okay so you don't make the house payment ($200 would make 1/6 of my house payment).

If I could figure out a way to stay warm and not freeze my arse off all winter long, I'd be all about the snow and cold.... but because winter is the time of year where I remain perpetually cold and shivering... I'll pass. Although I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have the type of snow Jamie mentioned at least ONCE this winter!!!
