Oh so leaving the tree up till April is bad? In fact my daughter still has her tree up in her room from last year, we use it as a night light

Only if you forget to water it. When the tree dries out, the lights can catch it on fire....then you'll have a tree candle.

LOL....I've thus far been too cheap especially when we already have a fake one.

But, my hubby's ex-girlfriend picked it out for them so I'm using that as an excuse.

I have always had a real tree, I just love the look and smell of them. I either head out to our land and grab one, or just get one from the local Boy Scouts. They smell soooo nice.

I would say though that probably half the people I know use artificial ones.

We used to have real trees when I lived in Northern WI and out in the country.

My favorite was this little charlie brown 3 foot tall one that I went out and got myself. I tied a sled to my waist and strapped on the skis until I found it, cut it down, and brought it home. We only put one string of lights on it and only sentimental type ornaments. It was the coolest xmas tree. I think that was 15 years ago or so.

Reminds me of when I was coming over here back in 2004 to spend christmas with my wife...she was up in Watertown, NY and I was in England at the time...and she wanted to get a christmas tree with me on christmas eve...So flying over on christmas eve, the flight took longer than expected - due to high winds against us...so i missed my connecting flight to Syracuse, and spent the night in Dulles airport (fun times with constant christmas music)...naturally wife was gutted, was on the 1st flight out in the morning, and we went to wallyworld to get a fake tree, cause naturally I missed christmas eve stuff and getting a real one...and the only place open on christmas day is...Walmart. they had 80% off christmas stuff then. So I bought one of the biggest trees for tuppence, esp as it was £1 = $1.85 at the time. Bargin. And we still use that huge pre-lit tree.

I don't even take the lights off our fake Xmas tree any more, I just carry the whole tree into the basement and throw a sheet over it. Just have to do some fluffing every year and hang ornaments on it.

Those are the best trees, I usually never worry lots about the shape of a tree, but nowadays it does need to have lots of solid branches to hold all the ornaments my wife has gathered over the years.

All that said, with us taking off on the 28th for the Riviera Maya, who knows if we will even have a tree this year. We'll see.

Must lower the fun factor though. ;)

In the past when our kids were younger, setting up the tree and putting all the lights and ornaments on was always a fun family event. :D

pretty bad Deb. It's no wonder I never travel.

I talked with Terri today for a while and she gave me a nice dragon pep-talk so I'm doing my best not to be beside myself. (Hawaiian would probably charge extra for that anyway )

LOL! I immediately pictured another you patting your hand!

Because it has been a long time since I have seen Aiden. We're working on getting him the weekend before Christmas and keeping him until CJ and Marge come up for the holiday.

Good luck! I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Lisa, that cracked me up. I pictured in my head, you sitting next to yourself, and the airlines making you buy another ticket.

JINX! LOL!

oh oh oh! ! I have a funny story to tell you from today.

We took the cats to the vet (that's where we board them) and I was going in the back with them to get them settled and I hear the receptionist say (as I was heading down the hallway) "...so Puddles is in here for a distemper and rabies shot today..." (Dan was out there...and when we got to the car he said "DID YOU HEAR THAT?? I THOUGHT I'D BEEN SET UP!!"

LMAO! Hahahahahahaha!

I guess I'm still having issues doing PP work on a laptop. I just can't seem to get anything to look right for me, even though this new laptop has such a better LCD screen than my old one.

Oh, well... Here are a couple quick and dirty edits from today before I pass out for the night.

Kit and Wadey-cakes*, headed down the road toward the turkeys.

Why did the turkey cross the road?

This was the best shot I could get of Baby Bambi. He just would not raise his head. He was too busy eating.

A tractor in Grafton.

* No, I didn't call him that in person, but he did confuse me with his frequent references to someone named Cathy. I have no idea who that could be...

Nice Lonnie, I like the tractor!

Uncle Zane, you look right at home with your adorable niece ;)

Tasmin asks to go out, gets cold, asks to come in, warms up, asks to go out, repeat, she is working on her winter coat.

GAA! Missy has been doing that! Driving me INSANE! As soon as she is out she turns around and starts beating the crap out of the door and yelling like her paws are on fire

G'mae folks....

Has anyone seen my work keys? Or my sanity?

Your keys are probably somewhere in the bag of huggies.

Your sanity moved and left no forwarding address.

FuryMe wrote in post #6634343 (external link)
Tiff I'm sure your work keys are exactly where you left them. Unless you're on the Brady Bunch, if that's the case Tiger took them and has them in his dog house.

*snort* Or that!

It's not just Wally world. Menards, the home improvement store has a whole forest of xmas trees out and several strip malls are already lighting up. Too much too early I say. I need time to eat my kids candy, think about turkeys a bit, then move into xmas.

Prezactly!

3Turner wrote in post #6634642 (external link)
Funny you mention....Evan said the same thing this morning. He wants to put up the decorations when he gets home today from school. I told him it was just a bit too early. Then he said that he was excited that it was almost Xmas cause "it's all about the presents". Of course when I corrected him and said it was not about the presents, he said "Oh, I always thought it was only about the presents."

WTH?!?

I'm PP some pics and I sort of like this one. It's a Lady Bug Mosh pit. Not sure what was going on but these little guys were all clustered together in my tool shed.

I like that a lot JustJohn!

I could try, but Jennifer is already asking for a lift. :p
Besides, you would have to put up with 14 of the Bennett clan, and they are a crazy, weird bunch.

I will stifle my fake tree rant and instead gently point something out. Trees are a renewable resource grown on American farms by people who work hard, pay taxes, maintain farm land benefiting the environment, and spend their money here. Fake trees are made by essentially slave labor in china from plastics and chemicals, shipped in a box made of real trees on a ship spewing pollution, just to eventually be thrown in a landfill here. The money made here is made by giant corporations like wal-mart and the profits made by the Chinese are used to fuel the giant military and political machine. Buy a real tree from a real American farmer it benefits you in the long run.
