However, in my family, from the time I was a little girl we would buy one special ornament every christmas. I carried that tradition on over the years with my own kids. So we decorate with all those ornaments, plus we still like to string popcorn and use that too. I also put big red cloth bows on it, makes it look like an old timey tree. Paula

gjl711 wrote in post #6635224 I'm a real tree guy as well. My wife is pushing hard for the fake one but every time the real one comes in and smells up the house, she sees my point. It's just so xmas My favorite has been the ones we have been putting up the last two years. They are all organic except for the lights. We got a food dryer so come Dec 1 I head out to the local market and get a bunch of exotic fruits, slice them thin, and dry them. Some fruits have very pretty patterns inside and make stars and such. When xmas is over we take off the lights and put the tree out for the birds. Within a week all the fruits are gone. How fun! I will admit to being a tad teary eyed as they have been leaving with their ornaments to start their own tradition. Terri |GEAR|

BearLeeAlive wrote in post #6635242 Now, that is one hell of a good idea. ![]() Unfortunately, my wife does have a bunch of really nice ornaments that we would have to put up. Though we do fill with some simple ornaments as well, these we could substitute with your fruit idea. I like my tree simple without a lot of clutter and just white lights. And one of my favorite ornaments.
