I hear ya.

I have a hard time photographing things that are disturbing to me. (I could never do what Zane does).
I won't, WILL NOT, photograph a rally, protest, or a picket line or something like that if the 'cause' is disturbing to me. (Wade likes to, and it infuriates me if I'm with him. I feel that photographing them gives meaning to their cause)

I have a hard time with any place that may have bad history. I have great respect for Neil for photographing the concentration camp that he went to. I'm not sure if I'd have been able to.

I'd suck as a news reporter.

I think I could count on one hand the photos I have of someone crying. (Unless it's happy tears ;) ) I just don't ever think of capturing something on film that is painful to someone.

Love the sunset Jen, has your weather cooled off?

We aren't at peak in terms of the leaves changing yet, seems like it is taking a very long time this year.

Our weather last week was upper 70's.... this weekend I don't know that in the upper mountains they topped 50.... Both when Dan & I went shooting yesterday and the boys and I went today... it was in the 40's.... BRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrr from almost 80 to not even 50!!!!!!

There are areas that it is peak now in the higher elevations.... Asheville proper hasn't hit peak yet... still lots of green.... but we're gettin' there... Heck we were worried back in August that it would all be GONE by now.... the leaves were changing back then.... but we got some rain so it didn't fully change....

Jenn, gone back to novice photographer...

I know I"m just sensitive Cat use to feel it was a curse ..no instruction plans to go along with it ..now I see it as a gift :) still no instructions but a great respect for it :) I"ve never been able to go to where 911 and the towers are ..nor can I go to a place like Neil has gone ..I would just feel so much It would make me ill .But if I'm in a sensitive situation I can handle it ..like when my mom was dying ..ect ..I know how to let my heart be broken .

The idea behind this place was revolutionary in its time. A college like campus for "the epileptics and feeble minded" as it was originally billed it was ahaven where peole could live as normal a life as possible doing farming, crafts and learning simple trades so they could sell their wares, it turned into an overcrowded place for the forgotten but eventually all of the clients were moved out into better places and it was closed. Within the realm of service providers for the developmentally delayed there was a bit of a revolution in the mid 80's where large institutions were no longer the therapeutic places they were once thought to be and a big push came in for group homes to be established where clients would live as normal a life as possible in a community with resources provided also in the community.

Many people didn't want group homes on their blocks or even in their towns, some still don't. But time marches on and progress was made.

I told Deb that while there is the creep factor I also think it is important to go to these places and remind ourselves of what once was. We actually took my clients here last year or so and had a picnic and poked around so that we could bring happy folks living the way they should back to a place where perhaps at one time or another things didn't go the way they should. Sort of trying to bring some balance in.

I wouldn't crop it Deb, I like it how it is. Most of my interior shots in that area didn't come out well as I had the macro on.

Eli was very creeped out when we went in this building and retreated to the car and read a book!

I like that perspective, Crissa.

There is a party next door (HEEEUGE Hispanic family) and they have the loud music and are doing a pinata on the back patio (right outside our living room window). I've been watching it for quite some time. I love the energy and laughter that is coming from their back yard.
