my viewfinder is blurry

I have know idea why but the viewfinder is blurry. So everything that you see through it looks out of focus. But when you snap a picture it looks fine. Is this something that canon needs to clean or take care of, or is this something somewhat common and can be cleaned by yourself. I did try cleaning it with a q-tip but to no avail.
any ideas?

Check your diopter; it's a small wheel next to the viewfinder. Give it a whirl - try setting it back to zero.

have your camera lock focus on something, then while it is focused, turn the diopter until the image that you see in the viewfinder is sharp. That way, the viewfinder is adjusted for YOUR eyesight.

Or makes things clear... -3 for me makes things sharp, when it's at 0 everything's a mess to my eyes

You don't have to focus on anything - just look at the expsoure information at the bottom of the viewfinder. If you correctly adjust the dioptic adjustment wheel, this display will be clear and your viewfinder will be spot on. I use this method because the pattern recognition process is much easier, thus making the adjustment process go more smoothly/quickly.
