Hey guys,
I need some help with my XTI, What are the optimal settings for it? I'm not sure how i should set this thing up. I have everything on the factory settings now. One thing that i have not understood is that the camera will not take pics in low light/dark. Why is this?
Thanks!

Have you read the owner's manual? Changing settings is covered. As for low light many things can be adjusted using the manual settings. Best suggestion I can make is that you check with your local Community College or Photography club about basic DSLR classes. Other than that is to read books, lots of book and ask questions on the POTN

Canon 50D, Canon 100mm f/2.8 IS L, Canon 20-35mm f/2.8L, Canon 70-300 f/4-5.6 L IS and Kenko 1.4 TC
Gitzo G2228 with a Markins Q3, and assorted gadgets. :)

There are no optimal settings. The closest you can get is to shoot in the green box. The camera will then set everything as it sees things. Setting the parameters yourself totally depends on what your shooting, how you shoot, what effect your trying for, basically it is totally dependant on the picture your trying to capture.

It would be easier if you post an example pic where things did not work out the way you had intended. Then others could offer suggestions as to what you could havedone to make things better.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Thanks gjl, I'll post some images and let you guys take a look and maybe give me a few pointers on it. I should have them up shortly.
Thanks!
