Ok, so i just purchased a 430ex II, i was wondering what else would i need to run it as a slave? Can i trigger it via PC cord/hotshoe adapter? Or do i need a Master as in the 580 to trigger it? Also, can i run the Vivitar 285HVs as other slaves in conjunction with the 430?

I'm like really confused as to how to use this as a slave :\

thanks in advance!

You can trigger an off-camera 430EX II with a PC sync cable and a hotshoe adapter on the flash end (I don't think the 430EX II has a PC port). A hotshoe adapter will also be required on the camera end if the camera doesn't have a PC port either.

You can also trigger the 430EX II with a 580EX as the master.

The Vivitar can't be used as a direct slave to the 580EX but it can be triggered via PC sync cord, an RFremote or an optical slave triggering unit attached to the Vivitar (if the "master" flash is set to manual mode).
