3rd time in NHL history a player making their NHL debut got a hat trick and i was there. Here is the shot, let me know what you think.

Congrats on being there and seeing something so awesome! This is the 2nd time trying to shoot hockey. It is the most difficult thing i've tried to do photography wise. When shooting direclty at the ice it's damn near impossible to get exposure settings.

While it is nice that you captured this shot, it is not immediately clear what it happening in it. It is too far away to tell that those are hats on the ice (I assume they are because of your description of the photo) and those are the ice staff/girls coming on the ice to pick them up. However if you just posted the shot without telling anyone that it was a "hat-trick" celebration, no one would be able to tell this. As to the tint (white balance) those of us that commonly shoot a lot of hockey will use a custom white balance off of the ice. In this case, I suspect actually that all the red light from the scoreboards and marquee were reflecting a bit off the ice. This can easily be adjusted in post processing. In future, if you can, get a bit closer and capture some of the action during the game. Cheers! Chris Thanks for the pointers and the well thought out reply.
