Oh I think Denmark take the price!

A lens (300 mm f4L IS) that cost US$1100 at B&H can cost You as much as US$2365  if bought in Denmark in a regular photostore. If You shop around it is possible to find it for US$1826

As for the 20D body it will cost You US$1900  in Denmark !

Yep, Denmark comes top with crappy old rip-off UK a close second!:( A 20D body will set you back and average of $2100 here - and don't get me started on lenses and accessories!

One of the main reasons why the USA was visited twice last year (here's to Canoga Camera in L.A. (17-40L) and B&H in NYC  (100 macro & hood, Angle Finder C + other stuff) by me and the wife.

Cheers,
Barry

I rarely buy any of my photo gear in Finland. Canon prices here are ridiculous to begin with, then THEY add 22% VAT just for good measure.

With the current (and hopefully continued) weakness of the US Dollar, I have been buying gear from B&H, having it shipped to my buddy in CT, and then having him send it to me.

Things like batteries, CF cards, battery chargers, micorphone + lamp for my Sony MiniDV camcorder, two camera bags and so on. The saving is simply silly - even if he sends it to me with FedEx (using the company account, of course!).

My next purchase will be an EF 300 f/4 lens, 2X extender and some filters. I will pick the gear up in Austria (mid-April) when I meet up with my CT buddy for a long weekend of beer drinking and (burp) photography in the beautiful city of Vienna.

Ouch! I will be in Copenhagen next weekend ... I guess that I will not think about buying any photo gear there!

Yes, it's really funny that Canon products are cheaper in the States than they are over here in Japan.

I was in Dubai 2 weeks ago. I had hoped to pick up a 20D body but found the prices to be the same (if not dearer) than the UK. So much for the hype! Came away with nothing :-(

Same here in Hong Kong. Basically, don't bother to buy Japanese products in Japan. there is always cost more.
