Hi all, I haven't plugged myself in for a reality check photo critique for a while, so I thought I'd gte a bit of feedback. I'm particularly looking for any stylistic/composition commentary, as well as any technical pointers. Heck, I want it all! I really want to know which foregrounds you like, if any, in the shots where the lighthouse is in the distance. Do you like each one, or not?

Oh- the lighthouse is the Low Head Lighthouse, outside of Launceston, Tasmania.

All we taken handheld with a 30D and a Sigma 10-20.

In 1, 2, & 6 there's a noticeable tilt which can be corrected in post processing with Photoshop or some other software. There seems to be a lot of foreground grass in #5, maybe a bit too much. The rest look pretty sharp and well exposed. There is a separate thread for lighthouses in another forum - landscapes I think.

They are very well exposed, horizon is off on the first two and last one probably because of the wide angle...and I really like 4

Blimey- I did leave the horizon crooked. I usually fix that! Argh!

Thanks guys- that's what I mean- reality check!

I wasn't sure I liked the grass one either, but the wife did, and she has much better taste than me, so I put it in!

Good shots generally. I think you've a tendency to point the camera downwards... using it's extreme wide-angle to try to capture more foreground. That's good, except for two things: limit the foreground to 2/3rds of the shot as per the Rule of Thirds, and correct the distortion it causes in buildings... they just don't look right as they're compressed to much across the top. Alternatively, get down low to the ground and shoot more horizontally, and you'll find the building distortion is a lot less. Also, place the buildings in one third from the side. Cheers, Tony
