Thanks to everyones that been contributing to my awb thread.. Also this might be random does the awb setting affect if i shoot in raw or no? So does it matter for example: if i set on lightbulb and shooting in daytime on raw, or does that apply only for jpeg, because raw awb can be adjust when you covert it correct? Just wanna get things clear.

I consider RAW to be a safety net for when you forget to set something closer. The WB set when you shoot will affect how your RAW file looks when you open it up in the converter. You should be able to correct any imbalance, BUT there may be problems with post settings as Curtis posts here: How NOT to expose to the right

Well put and good information (Photosguy especially). I have been dragging my feet setting my custom WB for too long. I can't eevn tell you how long. lol really terrible me. My very ancient Canon has done rather well with the auto WB settings...but it's clearly not as accurate as I need it to be. Especially now that I am doing more frequent on site studio set ups!

So, when I google searched "Custom White Balance for canon" I found myself sucked into your nice little forum. Thanks so much for accurate information. Even with varied responses from people the way everyone presents their ideas and experience (from obvious veterans and obviouse newbies=) helped me a lot.

So, while waiting for my email to confirm my membership here I did work on my custom White Balance with better success and understanding than ever before. Thanks Again.

PS and it is really nice to find a Forum with all Canon users. Dear God I am such a camera snob. =)
