Still pretty new to this whole “photography thing” but learning is proving to be quite a journey!

I took this shot this afternoon in a shady area in front of our home. The first problem that I see with this shot is the reflections in the window, which to me are very irritating/distracting….but my PhotoShop skills are pretty limited, as is my 7 year old version of Elements 2.0 (I need to work on both!)

Outside of the reflections, what could I do to improve this shot? I thought that not cropping out the bench and keeping part of the palm tree helped to give the image an “at home” type of feel…..but do your eyes wander to the tree too much?

Thanks for your comments - I’m pushing myself to improve.

Bump up the contrast a little. The reflection growing out of her head is disturbing.

Like I said in the OP, that bugs me too. I just gave adjusting the contrast a shot, but it didn't seem to help much (but like I said, my PS skill are limited).

Outside of the reflections....any other comments?

Maybe you missed the focus point a little, the bench is a little more crispy than are the eyes.

To be honest with you I am not sure that this picture is well suited for B&W.
I would crop them more to the center and add some vinginting ( I know I misspelled that) to draw the eye to them more. The surrounding highlights really capture my attention.

I never, Not once claimed to read your post...
