Could anyone critique me on some of these below shots? I'm pretty disappointed with the overall shots today and don't know what I do wrong - grr. One thing I noticed is I forgot to take the camera off portrait mode:mad:

If anyone would be willing to edit one or some and post back and let me know what you did that would be awesome.. I know how to use photoshop a bit I just don't know what I'd need to edit. Thanks!

What's wrong with them? I don't see anything obviously wrong that PP could correct other than maybe some tighter cropping in a few. Nice action shots.

Oddly enough when I posted them here they looked normal, but in Photoshop or windows picture viewer they looked pretty fuzzy and bad :|

Time for a CPL....time of day may not have been the best for photography (high contrast lighting).

Time for a CPL...

I don't see where that would help? There's not much one would help with in the images & it would have bumped my ISO to 800 in most of the shots in the link below.

I do suggest that you get comfortable with RAW, though, & remember to take the camera off portrait mode. ;)

Thanks, I actually did shoot the entire event in RAW+JPEG just to try it out, but I don't really know how to do much with raws yet. The ISO was all over the place because the sun kept coming out, and then a cloud would roll in.... then the sun again partially covered.... It was kind of frustrating but I do like shooting horses :o

That does make life "interesting". I shoot 99% on manual & have learned how to change the ISO without looking at the camera. There are other crutches you can use, but this covers my favorites:
