Would be a lovely shot if the subject's face wasn't slightly soft/out of focus (this may be just an artifact of reducing the shot for web size).

Nice pose, nice lighting. Could be further improved with some gentle fill-flash (would need to be a Canon flashgun capable of high-speed flash as your shutter speed was above flash sync speed) - the fill would give highlights in the subject's eyes.

Composition could also improve slightly - crop the left hand vertical quarter off the shot & see the change.

Phil

A great first attempt! The white balance and exposure appear to be excellent.

She hunched her shoulders up which is a common thing for people to do when being photographed (or when cold or anxious.) Also she is looking past the camera rather than at it. Lastly her torso is turned just a bit too far away from the camera making her head look proportionately large for her frame. The head must have a good solid foundation in a portrait.

(We will complain about the flat lighting on the next image you post!!!)

Great capture, I think you should clone out the bright yellow single piece of grass on the right middle side and the orange part of the grass going across her jacket, they're kind of distracting
