I had gone downtown to take pictures with a friend and we stopped off at the Oklahoma National Memorial. As it got later into the night, the temperature dropped and I could start to see hand prints on the gate walls of the memorial.

During the day, visitors can and are sometimes encouraged to dip their palms into the reflecting pool and place their wet hands on the wall. During the day, because the sun is out, the wet handprint will remain for a few seconds and then the water evaporates.

At night, hand prints started showing up on the walls, similar to how a handprint will show up at night on foggy window.

My friend was taking pictures also and I noticed that his tripod was casting a shadow on the wall. He offered to take move it but I told him to leave it there.

Does it take away from the picture or seem out of place? I should have asked him to move it so I could get a picture of the wall without the tripod shadow but it was literally at the end of our 6 hour downtown photo shooting spree and we were both extremely tired.

If anything, I could always go downtown and try to get pictures of the handprints again.

maybes detracts a wee bit, but, dont feel you are alone by doing this, a few years ago a waited many weeks for the perfect sunrise on a local bridge over the river clyde in scotland, on the day it came, i hurriedly went there and set up my Benbo mark 2 and loaded my camera with very pricey slide film, it wasnt until i got the slides back, i noticed a veeeeeeeeeery long shadow of a tripod mounted camera in every slide :o
and you,ve guessed it, never had the time or the light again

In my opinion it does, but it should be easy to fix that.
