What I day. Bit cold and there I was being myself on my way to Ikea waiting for a "friend" to finish her shopping and some d00ds with more money than me all having a photo session. So I joined in.

Two shots. Edited slightly. Needs more work but close enough.

So for a good muck about, positioning, I really like this rig. Its simple, quick to setup yet holds extremely well. Pictures are not top notch, but a good basis. Yes I know people will not like the angles but me likes.

The rig was a Pro Mount SM8 and this is the contents of my purchase which was £330.

Its a lot more pricey than a DIY job but I never seem to have the time to build

It can be configured how you wish

As an example to those above, providing the suction cups can gain suction, they will go anywhere and the variety of poles means there is not one standard setup which you have to always use.

Those two dumbell like things are the joints between all three poles and make the rig stupidly solid. Ive had no issues with an ungripped 5D+24-70L on it so far but rather just use a 12-24 instead.

I have got a 1D III to stay on there but do not wish to try a gripped 5D for long. :o

Stupid question, but what I can't figure out... how you edit the rig of the pics?? I see the rig mounted on the red M3 in #3, and the final result in #5. I can't see how much work it takes to vanish the rig away!!! I like the angles!

Where did you order your rig from? How did you remove the rig from the picture? Great shots by the way! The angles are awesome.

I tell you something, that last shot, if the tiny hints of arcing in the floor texture weren't there, and there was a hint of tire smoke could be the first opposite lock rig shot I've seen. I had to look closely then for a bit... :)

Cheers, Dave.

Ah, the picture being setup is not the same I used. ;) What I did was this.

All I then needed to do was clone the two on the hood. The E92 M3 one was harder since I had to hold the camera as still as possible whilst others removed the rig. Still working on an idea to counter this.

As for purchasing the rig, it was from Fast Films who have an insane variety. They do provide some stuff for Top Gear and one o the systems they used was this. I am not planning on using it at the same speeds they do but its nice to have the option.

Yah, well the owner did want to try something sideways. Not been tested just yet.

I'd use another lens, it's SUPER SOFT!

I think the angle is a little too steep, my head keeps tilting too much. Just my 2 c

Must have left it out in the heat too long.

Lens is not soft, just lost some rigidity in the rig due one mounting point being on a plastic bumper which was not bolted where the mounting point was.

Meh, looks fine after some USM. [LINK] (external link)
