Jon, I find this very interesting. Not because I have never shared your experience with using NiMH and wireless E-TTL, but because I do believe this is the first time I have seen it mentioned. Have others shared your experience?

I haven't heard it from anyone else, but I've noticed that freshly charged NiMHs will give me a few shots, while alkalines will just keep going, albeit at the slower recycle rate that's their characteristic. This is with either a 550EX master or the ST-E2. I have mentioned it here a few times without anyone else responding yea or nay to the issue.

Just upgraded to Eneloops and I love them. Best part is I can leave them in the flash and they're always ready to go. Very good recycle times too.

i was planning on upgrading to rechargables and have been researching and researching....but just as i was going to purchase some, my local grocery store had energizer max's on sale. four batteries in one pack for $1. i ended buying 60 of them.
