I am looking at travelling to China and in need of some recommendations.

I need a camera bag that carries more than just camera gear. I mean, it can carry a bit of clothing, food, other things that you normally bring on a travel trip.

It needs to be water resistant for those rainy days. Tripod carrier if possible but not necessary.

Because I will be doing alot of walking and moving around, I have decided to only take a very select amount of lenses to lighten the load. So the bag can be quite small. Looking at : 24-105, 17-40 and 40D gripped.

Thanks alot.

Dakine Sequence has gotten very good reviews, and it can fit all your needs. Plus when travelling to the shady areas, the only way to access your camera gear is via the backrest area.

Yep put all that stuff on top compartment.

Yep its got a Rain Cover and Yep it will carry a tripod.

40D with a BG with two lenses? Not a problem. Really? Quite Small? Now that's not really possible.

Oh what bag am I talking about? LowePro CompuRover AW. You could try the Tamrac Adventure 9 but then it all depends on WHAT you want to put in the top compartment.

I wonder how long I have to hang out on POTN before I get as good as Ansel Adams ?

If you want water proof there's always the Lowepro Dryzone Rover...

Thanks for the input guys. I will have a look. The reason for the limited amount of lenses is. I am flying to Hong Kong, then finding my way through Guangzhou, China and Macau before returning to Hong Kong then on to Malaysia. I have already got a big 55L back pack and I don't have much spare weight / space for the camera gear. I know I should bring alot more but its a trade off against how much clothes and other items I can bring. I have the backpack on my back and this bag I will carry on my front while in transit. I will leave the backpack in hotel / motel upon arrival then carry the camera bag with me. IF that makes sense. Its a mission when I am not traveling direct from one country to another via plane. I am thinking, 24-105 and maybe the 50 prime and a 580EXII.

So looks like the CompuRover AW or the Dakine Sequence or Photo Mission (There is a review that just came out, how lucky). The Dryzone Rover is too expensive! The Tamrac Advernture 9 doesn't have a AW cover. Any more suggestions?

If you were to, say, take an ungripped 40D (why the extra bulk/weight of the grip when travelling?), 24-105, 50mm and a 580EX you may find a shoulder bag more convenient - something along the size lines of a Domke F-5Xb or similar...

I have been using, and loving, the Mountainsmith Parallax. It is a fantastic bag, depending on the size laptop you plan to travel with.

I wrote this bag up, with a photo of what got stuffed in it, here:

Also, the older Lowe Pro Stealth. You can see what I have shoved in a Stealth here:

Another vote for the Compurover. Mine served me well in Jamaica, as well as getting there and back.

Finally a REAL WORLD pic of stuff you need on a trip. All you see on your regular bag threads is the camera stuff and NOT the non camera stuff you need for a trip. I always wanted to post a pic like this but I was shy of posting a pic of my real world undies for all to see (I should have rolled them up like you have). :)

I am going to use this pic every time some poor soul think that a "camera bag" for a plane trip means only something for the camera.
