The main action is out of focus, the two girls behind look much more in focus

Mostly back focused from action. can happen during action shooting, my 30d seems to do this some too.

I would have cropped it a little too. The focus of the photo is the interaction between the girl kicking the ball and the defenders reaction. I'm not sure if the other two girls on the right add anything. I'm certain that the nets on the other field in the background are distracting. just a thought.

Well you did time it right in so far as the ball contacting the player, but I'd 'bin' that one if it were mine. It's not focused on the subject and it's very unflattering to the poor young girl being struck by the ball. Doesn't do much to convey the joy of kids playing the game.

If it's older kids or adults, that type of shot is more acceptable to me, but this is not one I'd show off.

Just my one single opinion.

Canon 20D w/grip, 300D, Powershot SX100 w/HF-DC1 flash, Canon 70-200 f/2.8L, 85 f/1.8, 17-55 f/2.8 IS, 50 f/1.8, 580EX and some other stuff...
