EOS 1000D/Rebel XS focus problem

Hello to all on this forum,

I bought new Canon EOS 1000D/Rebel XS DSLR camera. After my previous experience with Canon EOS cameras(300V/Rebel Ti), I thought It will be not much hard to start make photos with digital one. But I have quite big problem with focusing on target. My photos are much like blured comparing to analog pictures and my Olympus 1030SW digital compact camera. Please, can someone help me to find out, where I do mistakes?

Here are some examples of pictures I made with DSLR 1000D(please, forget about the red eyes on the first picture, it is obvious mistake of the photographer ;) ):
