I've used a few of the online lens rental places with good success.
However, I have a single-day event coming up this weekend for which I'd like to rent a lens, does anyone happen to know of any local camera stores that rent lenses in the Tampa Bay area?

I know that there's one online lens rental place that rents out of Orlando and offers a local pickup option, but that's a little far for my purposes, at least this time.

Also, any favorite camera stores in the Tampa Bay Area? I know of Lake Shore Camera Exchange, but any other recommendations? It seems as if Ritz/Wolf is the order of the day here for the most part....

Thanks!

North Tampa Photography is a good source for professional photo equipment. I don't think that they rent lens but if anybody did they should know about it.

I've looked myself, no dice.

Closest place is in Orlando, Sanford I believe. The advertise on craigslist now and then.

Some Canon bodies, some zooms, and a cheap prime. A flash, some monolights, and the mess of crap that goes with all of it. Does that clear everything up?

sas, thanks for the info on North Tampa Photography; they don't do lens rentals, but the store should be a good destination for wandering/purchasing, thanks!

The person who answered the phone at NTP said to check out rentglass.com, which is in Celebration, FL. I also know of TheLensDepot.com, which is in Maitland, FL and offers local pickup. However, it looks like we in the Tampa Bay area might be out of luck for local options.

I rented from some of the companies online that have advertised here. Very trustworthy. Be nice to have someone local but I like not having to drive somewhere to return a lens and just mail it back.

Rentglass.com is in Kissimmee, I have rented from them with local pick up and drop off.

Have to look into that. How is that shop in Aurburndale...trying to think of where it's at. The shop in Lakeland just closed so no more wandering and trying out bags.

We should go shooting. So rare to find someone in this minute area between Orlando and Tampa.

The shop is Marshalls Camera, very nice people, I have bought mainly accessories through them. They have an average selection, have some use gear as well which works for off camera lighting stuff... picked up a 45" umbrella for $15... That shop in Lakeland was off S.Florida Ave near the Polk Parkway right? That was a decent place....

If every in Orlando, Colonial Photo and Hobby is worth checking out. #1 place around.

Sent you a PM...

Darn right it is! I use to live in Orlando. Colonial is the best. But yeah, the one near the parkway.

Got the PM!

Wow, cool to see a lot of people from the Orlando/Tampa area :)

Good advice on the rental too, I'll be going to Europe next summer and need to rent a wide angle lens for the trip.

OT but one more vote for Colonial. I miss them now that I live in Cincinnati. The local shops I have found here don't have the selection or pricing of Colonial.

No, I'm not a professional photographer, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
