I noticed that mine will creep if I have it pointing down and walking around. It won't extend all the way out, but it will creep from 24mm to 35mm.

If I jog or run, the lens will creep out all the way to 105mm.

I think so. I *hate* zoom lenses that creep, drives me absolutely nuts for some reason. I've had 2 24-105's, and neither creeped, but if they did I'd send it off to Canon.

It means that the zoom lens will extend on its own when it is pointed downward. Friction will not keep the lens at a given zoom setting, so it "creeps" or extends.

Some lenses have locks that keep the lens from extending to avoid this.

Only when I walk long distances with the lens facing down. But other than that, no.

I just received my new 24-105 today. It feels great. It feels a little on the light side (compared to 24-70). No creep yet ;)

OK, I bought mine used and it creeps like a big dog. Should I get help? I am kind of ashamed to admit it, but I really don't care. Unless all the other photographers are laughing at me and I don't know it. You guys aren't laughing at me are you?

Seriously, have any of you ever heard of creep causing a problem other than losing the zoom setting on tripod macro type work? other than that, I seem to keep my hand on the zoom ring all the time and creep isn't an issue. It would be nice to have the lens at its widest angle of view when I bring it up quickly for a fast action shot (zooming in on a subject is probably faster than zooming out to find it then framing and zooming back in) but I really don't think creep is a problem I am going to worry about.
another question, has anyone ever heard of a repair being done, did it work and was it worth the cost?

It does creep between 24-70 when I point it upwards. 70-105 is fine...

Mine is 3 years old.
