my second real gig. stupid flash batteries weren't charged enough and almost quit on me last moment. also e-bay triggers let me down a couple times. gonna get cybersyncs asap.

i'm afraid i'm sticking to one sort of style (but i like it so much). most of my pictures are brown-ish with pretty dark shadows.

here's are the pics:

1st one is really cool. I'm not seeing any detail in the bottom right corner, which is sort of distracting since the rest of the shot is so busy.

2nd one is also cool. I guess the only thing I'd critique is her eye right smack dab in the middle of the photo. I usually try to avoid that.

I like the 3rd one as well. A few of the guys look out of focus. I'd also crop out some of the dead space on top.

It looks like your flash quit on the first one, as it appears the light is from the window. That's not a criticism.

These are tough shots. There's a lot of black in them, which produces a dynamic range that most digital cameras can't handle. That's why the faces are overexposed or highlights blown out in the last two. Again, this is not a criticism because it might have been the look that you were trying to get.

Hey, Wildwinds,
I saw a photo of yours, it was an evening shot of Piccadilly in London. I want to ask you something about it.

I see nothing wrong with the crop in the third one but for some reason everyone want to "decapitate" their images. I like to see that height in the shot to give me a more "You are there" feeling too it. We don't live in a "inches above the head" world.

I tweeked them a bit using the "velvia vision" plug in and then did a little burning and dodging. In the one with the girl holding the tattoo machine I also smudged her face smooth and I then applied unsharp mask while in lab color and selecting "lightness" in the tab to sharpen them all. Let me know if you want the originals and I'll email them to you, if not I'll delete them. I have saved them in a second file before dropping them to 150kb to post. The first one with the girl on the chair was rushed, sorry I have to step out.
