Hello ,

I just purchased the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS lens from B&H a couple weeks ago and now see that Canon has rebates available for a $125 off for this lens.

Anyone know if its possible that B&H would get me this rebate? Anyone had similar experiences and able to work anything out?

Am I just out of luck? Gotta hate it when your timing is off.

Just figured I'd ask here since B&H is closed for another couple days and it would be nice to have the $125 to go toward something else. :-)

Thanks

well i gotta add this: US rebate are better than Canada because in Canada before the rebate comes out they jacked the price up! I guess its a marketing things!

Yes it is and I'll probably end up contacting them as well. However, it is an instant rebate to where you don't have to fill any form out and send it in so I thought B&H would be able to help.

I'll contact them as well on Thursday when they open for business again.

What you're looking for is essentially a price adjustment which is a matter to take up with the retailer .. not the manufacturer.

I don't think it should be an issue.....alot on the major companies have price guaruntee. That being said I have never dealt with b&h but I know the two major retailers in that I deal with here in Canada do 45 and 60 day lowest price guaruntees.

I had a similuar issue last year. I e-mailed them and since it was within their 30 day return period they credited my credit card for the amount of the rebate. One of the many reasons I use B&H.

B&H only has a 15 day return policy:

I had purchased a 24-105 f/4.0L last spring. After I had the lens in hand for a week, I found a coupon code for $100 off the purchase price.
I called B&H and asked about it.
The guy on the other end of the phone asked for the code and asked me to hold on a minute.
When he came back on the line, he told me that the code was good, and the $100 had just been refunded to my credit card.

Give them a call (as soon as the holidays are over). What have you got to lose?

Certainly it's worth making a phone call. This situation might be a little different because the coupon codes B&H used to offer were exclusively through them, not funded by Canon. The rebate programs are funded by Canon.

If you are in the timeframe where you can still return then re-buy, i can't see why they wouldn't just credit you rather than go through all that hassle for the net same result.

And speaking of which, did the B&H codes go the way of the Dodo?
Last ones i remember seeing were at least 6 months ago.
