I'm guessing that the title refers to the fact that the bird has something in it's mouth? Not sure what you are trying to do here...

You are correct about the title. I'll admit that I struggle to find great ones :)

What am I trying to do? Show an image that people like or don't like, and have them offer critiques and comments as to why.

I was looking for a few more birds. Interesting silhouette but the sky seems a bit too gray and overall maybe a bit too busy at the top.

Ok I'll have to think of a different title.

I applied a different crop to this one in order to clean the top, and bring more focus to the bird. Any better?

Chris, I have a slew of these shots, I happen to love them, but I thought the crop was off. The limb at the left is heavy for the twigs on the right..and the color does seem to lay flat..

Played while having a cuppa:rolleyes:

I like the silhouette and duotone. My only suggestion would be to have the bird fill more of the frame (a tall order based on my experience trying to photograph birds -- a 600 mm lens might help ;)).

Thank you for the additional feedback Gail and Bill.

That title is much better Gail, I'm stealing it :p

When doing the duotone, I tried several colours at different strengths. I didn't find any that I hated, and chose one I felt was more subtle. Perhaps it was too subtle.

I think I'll be adding a super-wide to my kit before any telephotos so I'll have to "take birds off my list" (had a childhood flashback there).
