It always puzzles me why people write 'prolly' instead of 'probably'. Is that the way they say it?

I'm originally from the southern US -- No, they don't usually say it that way.

What's the relevance of coming from the southern US?

I hear it all the time, from all kinds of people. Does anyone have trouble understanding what it means? No. ;)

That's exactly what matters as long as they can understand it.

I understand all this, accents, understanding and the like - but why do people write 'prolly' instead of 'probably'? Is it supposed to be humorous?

Roy, it may be a Northern thing. Try saying probably after you have been outside in 20 below weather for a half hour. Yes, I am serious.

Yikes! it probably wasn't my intention to start something about spelling here  in the interest of keeping this thread full of pics of photogs, let's move the 'prolly' topic to a thread dedicated to 'lense' ;) <HERE> it will fit in much better there.

Thanks.

With your teeth chattering in the cold, I would have thought it was easier to say 'probably' :D

Incidentally, I wasn't trying to start a spelling thing - I was just interested where 'prolly' came from.

At 20 Below, your face is frozen, your teeth don't chatter. The less you have to move it, the better. Prolly is just easier to say with a frozen face. ;)
