This was a 300mm 2.8 with the 2X TC at 1/80th.
Not a great image but just getting used to this lens and loving my first real IS lens!

Post some images!

An industrial photo shot with 20D and 17-55mm f/2.8 IS hand held. This is a small section taken from the full frame, about 1/3 of the height of the long dimension of the frame, then reduced 50% for posting.

21mm, f/9, 1/20, ISO 1600

Here's a couple instances I can remember where IS came in handy.

Here's my 5D + 24-105 combo at the Trevi Fountain. Unfortunately I was there in the afternoon and the light was there in the morning, but what can I do...

1/10 @ 35mm. Not impossible handheld, but IS did help

Another example where IS came in handy, where basically there was just not enough light.

f/2.8, ISO 3200, 1/60 @ 185mm with my 70-200.

Going through the Merritt Island National wildlife preserve, spotted this heron catching a little snake. Stopped the car, dragged the Canon 1Ds M3 and 600mm f4 L IS out of the back seat. The bird is moving. No time to set up the tripod. Heft that baby up and shoot.

This is what I got, not great, but an interesting experience. ISO 200, 1/400s @ f10, -1 eV, IS on and a 2x Canon extender for a 1200mm shot. I think, for the combination of focal length and weight, this counts as low shutter speed.

The second shot is even more so. Canon XTi and 17-85mm IS at 22mm, ISO 1600, 0.3s @ f4, IS on. The illumination comes from a tungsten light. The 35000 year old cave painting is at Peche Merle, near Cahors, France. I got two shots before they told me "no photography."

Canons to the left, Canons to the right,
We hold our L glass toward the light,
Digitizing in a snap reflective glory
That will forever tell our imaged story.
