SD card incompatability with G9?

Hi
A friend told me today that he just bought a new 16Gb card for his G9 but it wont work.
I'm not familiar with the G series and havent had a chance to play with his camera as yet to see if i can make them work together.Is there some incompatability with large cards maybe?
Or is there any other obvious issues that come to mind?

I've read lots of reports of people using SDHC cards of 16GB. In fairness, as the G9 is SDHC compatible, it should work SDHC media upto 32GB.

What card does your friend have?
Have they tried formatting it in the camera?
If he has a card reader, can he see it from his PC/Mac?

I have a G9 but haven't tried a 16GB SDHC card yet.
My buddy has a G10 with a 16GB SDHC...no problems.

I should tell him to let me try his for awhile...yeah...that's it...just a little trial.

It looks like there must be some kind of user error or perhaps a dud card.We'll try a few things
