So it's a low-voltage input, then? What kind of recycle time do you get on the 544 at full power?

I dont really know. I normally use then at like 1/4-1/8 power and the recycle time is almost instant. I can also get off a 2-4 shot burst with my 20D and get all flashed at the beginnig of the battery charge.

Sounds pretty good. I got my replacement Ni-MH 7.2V cluster for my TR-Pak IIa in the mail the other day and it works great. Recycle time on a Sunpak 555 is about 1.25~1.5 sec. at full power and you can shoot 8 fps at 1/16 power indefinitely with no missed flashes (this is with 6 AA Ni-MH cells inside the flash head, as well). That's the advantage of a high-voltage input. I'm fairly certain I can mod the stock connector with a CKE connector for a Nikon SB-800 ... I would be so amazing to be able to use the TR-Pak IIa for a TTL flash - it's such a great battery and dirt cheap.

Here's the link if anyone is interested..

you need to get "Losi Mini T/ HPI Mini" connectors for it to work with the TR-Pak IIa (male for the battery cluster and female for the charger).

The battery cluster has about 2~3 times the capacity of the old Sunpak CL-Pak IIa Ni-Cd cluster (4500 mAh versus probably 1500~2000 mAh), it has slightly higher voltage under load, no memory issues when charging (and charge confirmation/trickle with the charger above), it'll keep recycling fast even when you've drained it and it costs $23 less than the Sunpak replacement cluster.

Anyone who has the TR-Pak IIa should definitely check it out.
