Seeing as I live here in china, i figured I would try and research a little bit about some national brands.

Manfrotto 055xprob and 488rc2 are highly recommended for their price and build on this forum but not many people really know about weifeng or benro.

Well i began asking a bit about these companies with an online dealer. He has nearly 7,000 online sales of camera equipment and he sells all three of these products along with markins and just about everything that you could want.

Here are some insights that he gave me in purchasing tripods and heads. ( i only asked about these three companies because they were similiar in price range. Obviously a markins m10 would be the best tripod head...no need to ask or do comparisons)

Heads:
In comparison to manfrotto 488rc2 benro's B series are alot better, the new j series tons better. The prices here were very similiar...dont know about where you are.

Legs: Weifeng vs Benro
The dealer didnt even have to think about that one. Benro is way better and he described weifeng as very cheap. Agian these are comparisons. and you need to look at the amount of money compared to what your getting. Here the prices are similiar with benro being a tad more expensive.

One more thing about heads because I have read some discussions on this forum about how accurate this is. The J series can hold 40-60 kg! I asked why I needed to hold that much weight when my legs couldnt hold half of that. The sum of his answer was that this really isnt what that terminology means. The higher the poundage needs to be understood as higher stability.

I hope this helps.

my tripod is the benro 128 n6. it's topped with the markins Q3. the set-up weighs 3.5 lbs and is very compact yet sturdy :D.

even so, they still ranked the markins and the arca swiss as 1 and 2. I dont think many people would dispute that. And in the test those two companies should have set the standard by which other heads were evaluated. So seeing that the benro was even close has to be saying something about benro. And the observation that I am making isnt against benro and markins but rather benro and manfrotto. So for me it seems that at similiar prices I would most definately go with the benro.

I Have been using this weifeng tripod for a month now and it's the best bang for buck tripod I can think of.

It is sturdy for
1. Canon 1000D
2. Canon 430 ex
3. Tamron 17-50mm non vc

it has a ballhead.

My question is, will the ballhead be replaceable with those benro's and manfroto ballheads?

You secure the camera using a circular piece with a single screw. Not sure how much weight it can hold tho. EDIT: load 3000 grams according to THIS SITE (external link)

It's going to be either 1/4" 20 pitch or 3/8" 16 pitch. If you can thread the camera onto it it's 1/4-20, but I'd guess it's 3/8-16.

EDIT: i just discovered that the thread size of the tripod is the same as the one under my camera... so is it the 3/8-16 you are talking about? same as the heads of benros and gitzos?
