35mm on the Mk3 is beautiful man :) Jill bought me mine for christmas and I love it. It definitely won't be considered wide as it'll be pushing 50mm but you could always mount a Tokina 11-16 on your Mk3 for WA stuff ;)

done with tokes. I have a 12-24 and it's nice, but the motor's too slow :p

Then the 35 won't even be wide angle. Get the 24 or 16-35 for sure.

Ugh. Ryerson wants me to give them a price list to add me to their list of photographers who they can call when they need a freelancer. I don't have a bloody price list for event coverage...time to make one up .

Cyril: I'm at 210 King Street East near the corner of King & Sherbourne right beside George Brown College.

Perry: Charge them per pixel ;)

Perry: I went to Ryerson 3 weeks ago to see if I can shoot their students' stuff and I haven't had one reply.

Huh. Weird. They've been emailing me every day.

Does $350 for up to 3 hours of coverage sound like a reasonable starting point for freelance event stuff? Or is that too high? Too low? I really have no idea how to price freelance rates for coverage of fashion events, I only know how to charge people for actual fashion/beauty/editorial photoshoots :p.

Tell them your hourly rate, and then have a minimum # of hours.

350 / 3 sounds ballpark.

Gonna start doing what some guys on MM are doing and start styling my own shoots.

One less piece of the puzzle I'll need to cater to.

Styling as in wardrobe or hair?

$150/hour or $350/3 hours sounds reasonable to me, and from what I have read in several threads here on POTN is the average. But if I were you I would weigh in what type of shoot you will be doing, how far is the commute, under what conditions will you be shooting, etc... Those factors can make a HUGE difference.

Rafael T.
Nowadays I shoot Nikon, but deep inside I am still a Canon lover... plus Nikonians don't have a cool place to hang like POTN :)
