Nice location. This scene just begs for HDR. I might crop a little of the foreground out. Well done.

I don't think too much dynamic range is the issue at play here. After opening the image I saw that it's opening with the ProPhoto color space. A lot of people are definately not seeing what you want them to see if you don't convert to sRGB before posting.

I tweaked the tones and added a dash of spices, and it looks quite vibrant. It probably didn't look this vibrant when you took the shot, but who needs to know that? ;)

Still working in ProPhoto.

Used Dfine 2.0 to eliminate some noise and jpeg artifacts from your posted image.

Shifted the entire histogram to the right by 10 with curves (set the output of the shadow point to 10 from 0 and set the output of the highlight point to 245 from 255. This will shift the entire histogram to the right while maintaining the distribution of tone).

Now that the tone values used in the photo existed in the center part of the histogram, with a fair amount of unused values on the right and left, I applied Alien Skin's Exposure 2 - Fuji Astia 100F plug-in to give it that film look.

The plug-in is completely optional as you can increase the contrast yourself using curves, and tweak the vibrance/saturation of colour however you like. I chose the plugin because it's quick, easy, and gives me a result I'm happy with.

Small amount of high pass sharpening.

Convert to sRGB before posting.

Nice image.

Nice to have you back Chris.

Thanks chauncey, it's good to visit the CC again :) I've been so busy with my own work that I haven't been popping in much lately. I need to keep honing my post work though so I'm back to play with all the willing victims :)
