Got 500mm & a gammy leg!!

Got my 500L (My 50th birthday prezzie to me!) yesterday, with thanks to Kerso for excellent service as usual.

I had it delivered to work & couldn't wait to get home, but when I did it was too dark & wet to try it out - apart from mounting it on the camera and doing press ups with it!!

This afternoons forecast was sunny weather, so I was really looking forward to testing it out and chasing the elusive Egrets around the local shore here.

Wasn't meant to be - I somehow done some cartilage damage to my knee this morning and now on crutches, hobbling about & not even able to pick it up out of the crate and "worship" it .

Not fair eh!! (And NO - it's not up for / temporary adoption).

So frustrating after waiting for months for this!!

Ah, that's got to be rough! Well, when your leg heals the 500 will be there patiently waiting for you and the adoration it deserves.

If it were me I would use the 500mm as cane.

Awesome. Gratz and happy bday btw. Perhaps this will be the start of a new tradition: 500mm @ 50, 600mm @ 60, and I guess we'll just bump up the 800mm @70 (else the 20 year gap would stink.

Why does this make me think of the photographic equivalent of 'Rear Window', the classic Hitchcock film? Anything attractive from your window view?

Crawl on the floor, tip the case over, carefully open it, let the lens roll out, put it on the camera.

Then, crawl over to the window, lean on a chair, take test shots.
