Two shots of an acorn woodpecker busily preparing new "deposit boxes" for his cache of nuts that will hopefuly see him through the winter season at Yosemite Village on Oct 8, 2008.

Nice captures, I have seen these birds for the first time this year out where I shoot. They have great looking faces with those markings...I haven't been very close to them yet for a good capture...but soon! How does the bird keep other's off his supplys?

Great shots of this beauty. How does he keep the other off, he stays with them all the time, turning them and counting. I've watched them for hours, and never figured out when they had time to gather new ones. :)
