Please have a look at this TriPod set-up. Would you change anything?

I’m looking at purchasing the Bogen / Manfrotto 190XB Tripod Legs with 488RC2 Midi Ballhead as a kit (external link) from B&H. The members of POTN haven’t steered me wrong yet, so I ask you….what do you think of this set-up? Anything that you would change?

I feel that I should mention that this is the most that I can spend on a Tripod/Ballhead at the present time.

Thanks in advance!

I think you have found the best for your budget. And, it's a pretty good combo.

For the money, you would be hard pressed to do better.

I have the 055xprob (taller than the 190) with the same head.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

It is a nice combo with lots of happy users. If it fits your budget and style, then I suspect you will be most satisfied with the choice.

I don't have those legs, but I do have the 488rc2, and well, it's made me want to use my tripod (Vanguard legs, nothing special, but sturdy!) more and more!

Some cameras, some lenses, plenty of gaffer's tape and beer.

Jeb. This is a great choice. I also have the 055PROBX also. I use the 190 for walking about. It's lighter.

Thanks for all the great replies!

I don't believe that this comes with a quick release. Am I wrong? If not, is there one that would work well with this set-up?

These two are listed as accessories....

Bogen / Manfrotto 200PL-14 (external link)

Bogen / Manfrotto 200PLARCH-14 (external link)

....or is there another one that those of you out there would recommend instead?

No, its QR...... You may want to get a few spare plates (I think they are RC2 off hand, its the ones I use) now to save on shipping. Put one one each lens "foot" and have another for the camera body........

Bogen / Manfrotto 200PL-14 Is the plate you want. If you don't need the extra stud in it, it pushes out (I did it with mine)
