DPP Trim Tool Geyed Out; HELP

As the title implies the trim tool is greyed out on a new installation of DDP. Any suugestions as to how I can activate it?:o

It is grayed out if an image is not selected. Select one or more images, is it still gray? What happens with you hit Alt+C ?

I've tried it with selecting one image at a time, and "selecting all", in and out of the edit window, and using the "tools" drop down and shortcuts.
I've uninstalled and tried custom and easy installations, and it's still greyed out.
I know the disc works as I've used it on two different pcs, the only thing that's changed is that this one is running Vista...
