Hi, I am new to the SLR world. A week ago I picked up a 50D. I think this photo came out okay. I feel the crop is not good. But I would love to hear what others think of this shot and what needs improvement.

The mid-ground looks kind of flat, with little actual or perceived distance between the closest and furthest parts, everything feels very "side on" and there are no lead-in lines. The blue and orange complement each other well, but the picture is a bit too uniformly silvery for my taste. I think more localised contrast and sharpness via a larger aperture would have added a little more feeling of texture and depth too. Tony 5D and too much glass. Mamiya 645E.

I agree with most of the comments above but all in all just make sure your shooting in RAW and take a ton of pictures and post them here for critique. It will only make you better. "I'm not immature, my default age limit is set to low."- someone in my head told me to write that.
